"WE ARE DELIGHTED IN THE SELECTION OF RADE AS OUR SUPPORT PARTNERS IN THIS PROJECT"

LEGVALUE - LEGUMES IN TRANSITION CONFERENCE

The PGRO forms the centre of excellence for peas and beans in the UK

Project Scope

Rade was commissioned by the Processors and Growers Research Organisation (PGRO) to design and develop a content managed website to provide support for a European funded project focussing on the legume industry. The project, named LegValue, was made up of a number of stakeholders of which the PGRO was one.

The project commenced in 2017 and has run for 4 years, culminating in a conference in 2021. PGRO’s function within the project was the dissemination of project findings and results and as such an effective website was to provide the foundation for the publication of all the work.

The scope of the final phase of the project for LegValue, was the development of a conference system to allow for bookings and the submissions of presentations for review.

The COVID-19 pandemic forced a change of plan and the decision was taken to hold the conference virtually, relying on the LegValue website to provide conference background information and after the conference to pull together a series of webinars and resources.

Solution

The original LegValue website had been developed by Rade in 2017 using the Umbraco CMS and it was agreed that the virtual conference would be developed as a continuation of the main LegValue site.

A key part of the new development was to provide an effective conference homepage that would act like the central lobby for a conventional conference, with effective signposting and access to the various conference areas.

Because the virtual conference was due to take place over the course of several weeks, with a new webinar published every week, an interactive timeline was designed that allowed the user to scroll through the conference and access webinars and supporting material from a central point.

The final aim of the project was for the conference site to form part of the project legacy, with information and resources retained for several years once the main project had ended.

Profile

The PGRO is a non-statutory levy body supported by grower members, the UK trade and also by outside funding for research work. This is carried out both on their own and in partnership with UK, European and worldwide research and commercial organisations. The PGRO forms the centre of excellence for peas and beans in the UK.

Testimonial

Roger Vickers, CEO, PGRO

"The team at Rade was not just interested in the prospect of a new client. Right form the start they took the trouble to understand a rather complex project and the needs and expectations of the multiple partners and stakeholders. It wasn’t until they had really grasped the essence of the project that they made outline suggestions, cross checking our needs and requirements to develop an effective communications tool. The result was commented on extremely favourably by the European Commission funding body during their review of our activities.

The site and platform upon which it has been built is extremely easy to manage, has great functionality and is easily understood by a wide range of users. The Rade team has always been enormously responsive and flexible as the project has developed and created a great impression amongst the wider team. We are delighted in the selection of RADE as our support partners in this project."
