NOVEMBER 2008. Last updated: 10th November SNOWTIME!!! Snow in October, Eh? What's that all about? The last time the UK had snow in October was the early 1930s, apparently! ...and NO, I don't remember it! I missed this fall though, as I was in a nice warm hospital, having what should (hopefully!) be my last operation. I did see a little bit of it as it was snowing on the top of the Horsehoe Pass as I made my way to Llangollen, the day before my operation.

I was nipping into town the other day and was met on a narrow stretch of village road by two Volvo XC90s coming the other way.
Both were black and both were diesels, nothing unusual there. But it struck me that out in the sticks the Volvo has become as acceptable as a Land Rover Discovery, which once ruled the roost.
